Information we collect
When you contact us or apply for a Proof Test, we may collect information you choose to provide, including:
- your name;
- your business name;
- your telephone number;
- your email address;
- information about what your business does;
- information about your current or planned marketing spend;
- information you provide during subsequent conversations with Everlight; and
- correspondence between you and Everlight.
We may also process limited technical information generated through use of our website where this is necessary for the operation, security or measurement of the site. Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained separately in our Cookie Policy.
How we use your information
We may use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries;
- contact you about a Proof Test application;
- understand your business, acquisition goals and requirements;
- assess and discuss a potential commercial relationship;
- prepare, operate and administer services where we agree to work together;
- communicate with existing clients and business contacts;
- maintain appropriate business and operational records;
- protect the security and integrity of our website and systems;
- comply with applicable legal, regulatory, accounting or reporting requirements; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights where necessary.
Submitting a Proof Test application does not automatically enrol you into unrelated promotional marketing communications.
Our lawful bases
We only use personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so.
Depending on the circumstances, these may include:
- Legitimate interests — including responding to genuine business enquiries, developing commercial relationships, operating and improving our business, maintaining appropriate records and protecting our systems, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
- Steps before entering into a contract or performance of a contract — where processing is necessary because you have asked us to take steps towards working together or where we have entered into an agreement with you personally.
- Legal obligation — where we need to use or retain information to comply with applicable law.
- Consent — where consent is specifically required for a particular activity. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it in accordance with applicable law.
Who we may share information with
We do not sell personal information submitted through Everlight’s corporate website as a general marketing database. Where a specific customer-acquisition campaign involves sharing personal information with a business, partner or service provider as part of that campaign, this will be explained in the relevant privacy information at the point of collection.
We may share information where reasonably necessary with organisations that help us operate Everlight, such as website, hosting, communications, CRM, analytics, professional advisory or technology providers.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our legal rights, or in connection with a legitimate corporate transaction.
International processing
Some technology or service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where applicable, Everlight will take appropriate steps required by UK data-protection law in relation to international transfers of personal information.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, managing business relationships, maintaining necessary records, resolving disputes and meeting legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.
The appropriate retention period may vary depending on the nature of the information and our relationship with you.
We periodically review information we hold and remove or anonymise information when it is no longer reasonably required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights relating to your personal information, including rights to:
- request access to personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of information in certain circumstances;
- request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
- object to certain processing;
- request transfer of certain information where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the circumstances and lawful basis involved.

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or misuse.
No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
